Arcadia Music and Arts Symposium: The symposium is a specialized summer music and arts program that provides instruction in instrumental music and visual arts. It is designed for music students in high school and middle school, visual arts students, students interested in electronic music and video game music production, leadership students, professional musicians, all educators, and anyone who may be interested in any courses that are offered.

The educational workshops and master classes will be customized and accommodate various levels of proficiency. In addition, participants will experience a variety of activities that develop strong leadership and promote health and wellness both mentally and emotionally.
Family and friends are invited to attend a showcase concert on Saturday night which will be a unique opportunity for the students to play along side LA’s top professional recording artists in a concert setting on the stage of the performing arts center.
We have gathered a stellar group of master teachers and working professionals of different disciplines within the Arts (music, visual…) for student learning and sharing. It is a safe and welcoming space for professional development and networking possibilities.

2017 Post Season and Event Host Meeting

The 2017 Post Season and Host Meeting for ADLA and WCWA is scheduled for Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 10:00am to 2:00pm and will take place at Tustin High School.  Please take a moment to RSVP HERE so we know how many to expect.

This meeting will have two parts.  The Post Season Meeting from 10:00am to 1:00pm followed by a Host Meeting from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.

The Post Season Meeting will be an opportunity for directors and instructors to review and discuss things that went well and recommend areas of improvement.

To have discussion items and topics included on the agenda, please submit them no later than Thursday, May 18 by using the form located here – 2017 Post Season Discussion Items and Agenda Topics.

You should plan on attending the Host Meeting if you are interested in hosting an event in 2018.  During this meeting we will review and discuss requirements for hosting, timelines, minimum host requirements, and areas for improving future events.    We are asking anyone interested in hosting an event in 2018 to submit a 2018 Event Host Application in advance of the May 20th meeting.

Winning tickets will be drawn at the 2017 Championship Event at Long Beach City College on April 29, 2017.

Winning ticket will have choice of prize, second ticket drawn will choose from remaining prizes, etc.   Winner need not be present.   Raffle tickets can be purchased at ticket booth or from students in the stands.

15 Freeway Closures

Significant Traffic and Closures are expected on the 15 Freeway between the 215 and 10 Freeways in Fontana, Rancho Cucamonga and Ontario.

Please plan accordingly and allow for extra travel time.   It is best to have an alternate route to the show site to avoid the closures.  However,  these alternate routes and detours will be VERY congested and lengthy.

The show will proceed as scheduled and unfortunately alternate performance times will not be permitted due to the size and number of ensembles scheduled to perform.

2017 Announcement Process/Script

Announcement Procedure
• Prior to the ensemble entering the floor to setup, the Timing and Penalty judge will announce the start of the interval time to you. During this time, music will be played through the PA system.
• As your ensemble is setting up, the Timing and Penalty judge will periodically announce the setup time to the director. The Timing and Penalty judge will also monitor the judges to be sure they are ready for the start of the performance. During this time, music will be played through the PA system.
• If at any time the judges are not ready, the interval time will be suspended and the ensemble will be notified of the suspension of the interval time by the Timing and Penalty judge.
• If the ensemble has any pre-show music, the house music will be faded out at the start of the pre-show music.  Please inform the T&P judge if pre-show music is used.
• When the ensemble is ready, the director will notify the Timing and Penalty judge and he/she will cue the announcer. The music will be faded out and the announcer will say:
Please welcome from (city and state/country), (name of ensemble).
(Pause)
Performing their program (program title), The American Drum Line Association is proud to present (name of ensemble).”
• At the conclusion of the performance, the announcer will say:
“(Name of ensemble) from (city and state/country), under the direction of (director’s name).”
Music will fade in as the ensemble leaves the floor.  Announcer will make no other announcements related to the ensemble.
• Ensembles must plan on this announcement as part of their interval time.
